Patrice Procopio has spent the greater portion of her life in the pursuit of garden flowers and wildflowers across the Midwest. Because she was born on a family farm in western Iowa, the observation and tending of the earth have been central in her life. She is drawn to the outdoors for peace, solitude and inspiration. Whether it was the vibrant colors observed in nature or the colorful textiles from her mother’s sewing machine, she has always been fascinated by color. Integral to her paintings is the play of light that transforms all that it touches into a beautiful prism of color.
Currently, Patrice Procopio resides in Milwaukee and Door County, Wis., where she spends her time painting, teaching, coordinating public art events, raising three children and of course, gardening. Through her recent venture, Artsyblooms, she designs textiles from her paintings and creates wearable accessories and home décor. A new eye for the beauty of floral landscapes is reflected in her lush palette and larger sized effusion paintings.
Her B.F.A. was received at Drake University in painting, art history, and education in1977 and her masters Degree in painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978. Professionally she has an extensive exhibition record in New England. Her paintings have been exhibited I numerous group and one-woman shows and galleries in Wisconsin and Illinois.
